"The Triumph of Rome," or "The Glorification of Italy," by Pieretto Bianca, a young Venetian, in the gilded Roman half-dome of the italian building, brilliant in color and dramatically composed, by some critics regarded as the finest mural decoration in the exposition. Rome, a woman in warlike dress, sits directly above the door to the right. Up the stairway, at either side, men and women bear offerings, chests, jars, statues, standards, and fruits. The wolf, ornamenting the balustrade, recalls the Romulus and Remus legend. |
