"Micheal Angelo"
Robert Aitken's "Micheal Angelo," in the colonnade of the Fine Arts Palace to the left as one approaches the main entrance from the south. It represents Micheal Angelo working on one of the massive figures that he made for the Medici Chapel, "Day," in the church of San Lorenzo in Florence. The figure is characteristic and the sculptor himself is vigorously indicated, the modelling throughout showing boldly executed surfaces. The group has a further interest in being a frank expression on the part of Aitken for the master whose influence he reveals in all his contributions to the exposition.
