Confiscation By William Greenwood | |
Introduction: | |
This is my fourth Project Gutenberg Etext, and the ideas contained within are products of the politics, economics of California. The author is lived in San Francisco, and talks about the robber barons living on Nob Hill, and how their money should be taken away and shared with the masses.
The author is not a communist, he very clearly states that he thinks people should work hard to get ahead, but only up to a certain point. His theory is that all should be limited to $100,000, any more is waste, and should be shared with everyone else. The author is pre-anticipating the anarchists. This book represents what I think is a typical James H. Berry publication, for its time. The copy of the book this e-text came from was found at the California State Library. |
